Orchard

Location-specific crop protection, leaf fertilization, root pruning, flower thinning, growth monitoring, and yield prediction for apple orchards, all based on computer vision

Crop protection, leaf fertilization, and root pruning

BBLeap’s camera-controlled precision sprayer uses 3D cameras and Track32 vision software. Each spraying nozzle is associated with a 3D area in which the tree foliage is analyzed. Allowing crop protection agents and leaf fertilizers to be applied in exactly the right amounts, or to be spared completely in certain places. The first apple growers using this system are reporting chemical reductions of over 50%. The same vision software can be used for location-specific root pruning by analyzing the increase in tree volume over the season

tree-specific flower thinning and yield prediction

Tree segmentation and detection of flowers and buds, to determine which trees need which chemical flower thinning treatment, and which trees don't need treatment at all. By thinning flowers only where needed we can greatly increase apple yield, compared to full-field application of chemical flower thinning

Vision-based yield prediction is expected to become a valuable tool for fruit growers (or any other farmer) in the near future. Track32 is ready to supply the required vision software
